About ITI Dress Making Trade

The ITI Dress Making Trade is a vocational training program under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) of the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. This trade is designed to develop practical skills and technical knowledge in garment designing, pattern making, cutting, stitching, sewing, and clothing construction.

The course provides comprehensive training in different types of garments, fabric identification, body measurements, pattern drafting, garment construction techniques, sewing machine operation, embroidery, and finishing methods. Students learn to design and manufacture garments for men, women, and children according to different sizes, styles, and fashion requirements.

During the training, students gain hands-on experience in operating industrial and domestic sewing machines, preparing garment patterns, fabric cutting, stitching, assembling garments, and performing quality checks. The course also introduces textile materials, garment measurements, pattern grading, marker making, and modern garment production techniques.

The ITI Dress Making course helps students develop creativity, accuracy, technical knowledge, and entrepreneurial skills required in the garment and apparel industry.

After successfully completing the course, candidates can explore employment opportunities in garment manufacturing industries, tailoring shops, fashion boutiques, textile companies, and apparel production units. Students can also establish their own tailoring business, boutique, or garment manufacturing enterprise.
